The Australian Business Unit comprises of one operational mine, the flagship Blair Athol Coal Mine located in Clermont, Queensland (as well as a large portfolio of exploration an evaluation assets predominantly located in Northern Galilee coal region).

Australian Operations

Blair Athol

TerraCom acquired its flagship Blair Athol Coal Mine, located in Clermont Queensland, in 2017. Since the acquisition,the Company has successfully restarted operations and now exports approximately 1.8 million tonnes per annum ofhigh quality low impurity thermal coal. Rehabilitation at the site is progressive and forms part of the ongoing mining operations.

The Blair Athol mine is an open pit operation producing thermal coal for export primarily to Japan, South Korea for their power generation markets and to India for the sponge iron market. Life of Mine is approximately 7 years at the current run rate and our recently announced Moorlands development project will see Blair Athol utilised as a processing precinct for many decades to come.

Rehabilitation

The Blair Athol operation continues to make significant progress with respect to its rehabilitation activities at site:
  • The capping of the old tailing storage facility has been completed ahead of schedule as part of the mining operations process.
  • Advancing face rehabilitation is being completed progressively, which is aimed at significantly reducing rehabilitation activities at the end of the mine life.
  • The mine has dedicated rehabilitation equipment and resources to undertake the necessary rehabilitation works with additional support from the production dozer fleet.
